Our History
Grace Overseas is, at its heart, a family business with strong roots in the local community.
Founded in 1985 by Manchester natives, Peter and Veronica Cooney, the company was started on a strong network of connections in the local freight industry due to the close relationships that both Peter and Veronica had built in the Manchester area prior to starting their business.
In the four decades that have followed, Grace Overseas has grown into a successful global enterprise, now led by Peter and Veronica’s daughter, Sarah Taylor. You can find out more about Grace Overseas’ rich family history in the link below.

The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
One of the most significant recent developments in environmental legislation is the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which underscores the importance of protecting forests and reducing carbon emissions linked to consumer goods.
This landmark legislation was designed to curb deforestation, forest degradation, and illegal logging associated with imported and exported goods. Effective from 30 December 2025 (with an extension for SMEs until June 2026), the regulation applies to a wide range of commodities, including:
- Palm oil, cattle, soy, coffee, cocoa, timber, and rubber
- Derived products like beef, chocolate, and furniture
This regulation applies to any quantity of these goods, ensuring that even small shipments comply with stringent standards.
