Grace Overseas is pleased to announce that we are a CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) regulated agent.
The CAA is the UK’s aviation regulator and is responsible for all aspects of civil aviation in the UK. A public corporation established in 1972, a key element of the CAA’s work is to ensure that high safety standards are met. This means regulating security arrangements at UK airports and air carriers as well as cargo and in-flight suppliers to ensure that all parties comply with UK and international security requirements.
The process of becoming a CAA regulated agent
In order to meet the requirements to become a CAA regulated agent, Grace Overseas had to undergo a security audit and inspection. We have had to demonstrate that:
> all our staff who have access to air cargo/mail have received the appropriate aviation security training
> access to the production area is controlled and the production process is supervised
All air cargo has to undergo thorough screening to ensure that prohibited items are not part of a consignment. As approximately 80% of all air cargo is carried on passenger aircrafts this screening is crucial.
